i'm trying to use Gimp but for some reason the program's not responding. everytime i try to click on the icon for Gimp (Under Kde in Graphics) my hard drive just blinks for about 5-7 seconds but nothing comes up. i've tried removing the package for gimp and reinstalling it but its not working. also, i use a non-root account to login into my box but i tried doing it with root, i thought it might be something to do with file permissions, but its doing the same thing.
i need some advice on what might be wrong

The first thing in diagnostics is always:

Open a console
start it from there
That way you won't miss out on error-messages.

Also have a look at ~/.xsession-errors
