printing documetns with openoffice and others


i can only print documetns with KDE applications... when i try to print, i get errors like this...

Status Information, attempt 1 of 3:
sending job 'atlantis@atlantis+869' to Canon_i850s@localhost
connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost - No such file or directory
Make sure the remote host supports the LPD protocol
and accepts connections from this host and from non-privileged (>1023) ports

and look at this...
atlantis:~ $ lpstat
Printer 'Canon_i850s@localhost' - cannot open connection - No such file or directory

i dont know much about printers, and what all this stuff means, but i just want my printer to work with all my programs... any help would be nice, thanks

in your Open Office directory run
./spadmin, choose a printer from the list or install your
if you're using cups the comand is not lp, it's lp-cups
It's the same and with all other applications - in mozzila u should change the lp command to lp-cups etc. Luck

it was that easy... lp-cups why didn't i think ov that before..

i have had a thread in linux-newbie for the last 20 or so hours.. and have been beating my head against a wall for 2 days.. all i had to do was lp-cups

thanks so much.
