Question Printer will not print

Has anyone got a Fuji Xerox Docuprint C525A printer working within Slackware64 14.1? There is a driver available from the manufacture but it is a 32 bit - it failed to work. Does any one have a working driver64 for the above? How do you get a 32bit driver working in pure Slackware64 bit? I did get the multib32 files downloaded and installed and this helped in that the print job was sent to the printer as completed but the print did not print them. Any help much appreciated.

This might help: http://www.openprinting.org/printer/...ocuprint_C525A

It points to this page, which suggests a particular *.rpm. This might be a case for rpm2tgz (which worked the couple of times I needed it).

I don't know enough to answer the "32 bit driver on a 64 bit system" question.

frankbell > I Tried the pbone site but did not find the rpm - tried to search for dpc525a.rpm and others but did not find - was unable to figure out on the site how you do a contents search, I only was able to do a name search.

*chuckles* I have the same printer (xerox phaser 6125n) and didn't do my homework properly! My home file/print-server had to be 'downgraded' to 32 bit - which was no biggie.
I tried the rpm - but it didn't work, but
Code:
dpc525a_linux_.0.0.tar_81c2.zip
did ....
Dirty? Yes! - but it works!!
Can't remember where I got it - probably somewhere on the Fuji homepage ... you _could_ try to google for the name ... if you can't find it, let me know and I'll send it to you ...

Actually, I have the best thing (but still only 32-bits!!)
It's a tar.bz2-file (310k) with all the files you need - so just do 'cd /' and then do a 'tar xvjf' on it ...
Only thing - being 32bit, you first have to extract it to somewhere else, and then change any 'lib' to 'lib32', and then just copy the lot ...

Here's a listing of all the pertinent files:
Code:
# lf -R xerox-phaser-6125n/
xerox-phaser-6125n/:
./ ../ usr/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr:
./ ../ lib/ share/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/lib:
./ ../ cups/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/lib/cups:
./ ../ filter/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/lib/cups/filter:
./ ../ FXM_ALC* FXM_CC* FXM_HBPL* FXM_MF*	FXM_PF*
FXM_PM2FXR* FXM_PR* FXM_PS2PM* FXM_SBP*

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share:
./ ../ cups/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share/cups:
./ ../ FujiXerox/ model/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share/cups/FujiXerox:
./ ../ dlut/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share/cups/FujiXerox/dlut:
./ ../ FX_DocuPrint_C525_A_AP.dlut

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share/cups/model:
./ ../ FujiXerox/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share/cups/model/FujiXerox:
./ ../ en/

xerox-phaser-6125n/usr/share/cups/model/FujiXerox/en:
./ ../ FX_DocuPrint_C525_A_AP.ppd

darn - looking at the files - it must've been the rpm (->tgz) I used after all - and not the zip-file ... (blame it on a failing memory - me, I just use my tarball to install it ...)

It's a good printer though ...

Thank You linuxtinker,I have downloaded the above file - will try it out soon. The Printer driver that I am after is not the one the manufacturer supplies as it will not work with Slackware64, but there is one that does as I used it with Slamd64 from a Mepis site. I thought I had backed it up but when I looked for it it was not there. I gather some one had modified the rpm file so that it would work with 32 bit Linux os and 64 bit Linux os.

Thank You perbh, I gather the xerox phaser 6125n is the same as a Fuji xerox C525A Printer - not sure how to use the above code yet as I am new to Linux.

linuxtinker,I have installed the driver but it does not work with slackware64, it is a 32bit driver.

Unknown Withheld 1k Unknown stopped
"/usr/lib/cups/filter/FXM_PF failed"

Looks like I will need to use slackware32.

You can go multilib or try something like this

http://docs.slackware.com/howtos:har...r_installation

*sorry eyes were half open didn't notice you did say your were running a pure slackware 64*

I have now done the multilib as above and that went well, but for my print driver it still will not print eg. "/usr/lib/cups/filter/FXM_PF failed"

have given up with trying - will download the 32 bit version of Slackware and try the driver then - a couple of weeks away.
