Reply: Actually, if you are afraid you are not "savvy" enough, you have made yourself afraid of nothing. Slack, in my opinion, is really the easiest distro to use compared to all the others I've tried. They have kept it "simple" on purpose. The learning curve is steep, but the results are well worth the time needed to learn the system. Get Slackbook, study it, and you should be well on your way to working with Slackware. Plus, this forum has members who are ultra-helpful when you have a problem, including tolerating the stupid-newbies who usually take a lot of flack on other forums.
