Those instructions will blacklist the radeon DRM module, yes.

I am wondering about this thread. I am using -current on my laptop with HD3200 integrated graphics (running the ATI driver for about 2 years now with several distros, no problem at all) and 13.37 on my main rig with HD6870 (for about four weeks now). On both I have installed the proprietary drivers (just letting it install the drivers, not making the package) and simply launched
Code:
aticonfig --initial
after the install. A short reboot and , hey, working like a charm. No need to blacklist anything or do other things. Just worked.

The installer likely blacklists the radeon module these days.
