Please help -- cannot startx


Whenever I type startx, it tells me "hostname lookup failure" or some such. I need to press ctrl+C twice to get the prompt back. If I type xinit it starts fine. What's wrong?

guessing..

Try this:
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost >> /etc/hosts

Have you did any fancy network or X setup?

Any clues form /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?
