Pipelight (Silverlight) - Internal Error, please try again to play the movie
Hello,
i have a subscription to an online streaming service, which uses Microsoft Silverlight to play the content. There is a test movie, which one can play in order to test the settings. I am able to play the test movie. When i try to play a real movie, i get the error "Internal Error. Please try again to play the movie". I already called the service provider. They were able to play that movie on their computer. But i guess they had Windows on it. My configuration is explained in that post Any idea how to debug? |
I encountered problems a while back with getting Hulu to work and used pipelight for it. The thread for what I did is found at https://forum.peppermintos.com/index....html#msg22346. Not sure what distro you are using, but this worked for me on Peppermint (Ubuntu derivative.)

When checking the Firefox Add-ons does it indicate Silverlight set to "Always Active"? It needs to be , because the request to activate it won't pop-up in the browser normally. If not set to Always Active change it to that and then close and re-open Firefox. Also if you are using No-Script or umatrix or some other browser add-on for blocking scripts try the trouble site with that add-on disabled or selectively turned off for the site and see what results your get. You should now be good to go.

@bamunds: i tried your solution but it did not help :-(
My Silverlight pluigin is enabled: Code:
Silverlight Plug-In |
You state that the test movie works. Are you attempting to play a test movie or some other content? The more details you provide the easier it is to help. Your generic "have a streaming services" what is the site, so others can test from their Slackware 64 pipelight silverlight setup? I did have a problem with a site that required silverlight 5.0 and when I tried silverlight 5.1 it wouldn't work properly, so I disabled 5.1 and went back to 5.0 and everything worked correctly. Have you tried a test like that?

Hello ,
@Alien Bob: I am using Slackware 14.2 64 configured as described in my previous post @bamunds: What i am trying to access is payed content from HBO. It is only available in the country where you pay for it. It is not accessible from outside the country or from external IPs. Moreover you need to create an account to access the content, depending on your local provider. I am attempting to play some other content and it is not working, but the test movie works. |

I noticed, that i had had an AdBlock plugin active. I disabled it and the error keeps coming. My Firefox Plugins are attached.

I've gone to HBO and checked their system requirementshttp://www.hbo.com/about/faqs/site-h...uirements.html. They do NOT require silverlight, they only require flash versions higher that 9+ which you have installed. Why do you think Silverlight that is causing the issue when it is NOT required? Also, it appears that pipelight is loading silverlight. Again make sure that your flash plugin is set to Always Active and disable all other plugins, then reload and see if the site works.

I'm not sure why this foreign HBO GO site requires it but it indeed does need IE and silverlight. But HBO GO in America still says that only Flash with Firefox 42 is required. Have you tried backing down your silverlight plugin from 5.1 to 5.0? Otherwise, what user agent plugin are you using to tell the site your running IE? Perhaps you need to change to a different user agent plugin, I remember that AlienBob had recommended a specific one originally. I now use User Agent Switcher 0.73 and have added an agent that emulates Mozilla Firefox 38. Try one of these suggestions and report back.

Well bamunds,
i tried to enable silverlight5.0 from pipelight-plugin. Then the HBO-site did not recognize the plugin at all. It said, it was not installed. I had to choose silverlight5.1 again. Regarding the User Agent pluign - I tried with User Agent Switcher. Although i tried a lot of combinations from browser version and bowser type, i could not get everything green in the compatibility check. I was getting always unsupported browser. I had even some browser crashes with some browser combinations. I now use User Agent Overrider with Windows / IE11. So i was able to get again everything green with User Agent Overrider and silverlight5.1 The test movie can be played, but some other content gives again the error. |
Starting FireFox from the command line and trying to play a movie, gives the following output, when the error occurs:
Code:
console.log: SignText: injecting signText for origin https://staticxx.facebook.com |
If it was me I'd try again without any enabled plugins except pipelight Silverlight and your AgentSwitcher. I'd also Google the "class 16 not supported yet" error and the unhandled token information class 29. If the fds-team.de site checks that your loading correctly then contact them for help. Although the problem may be a trigger that is available in the latest windows version of Silverlight due to Microsoft operating code or Internet Explorer and not available through WINE code or the Gecko browser included within WINE. Remember that the pipelight plugin is running in WINE not a licensed version of MS-Windows. If you want to install vm-player or virtual-box, then an official version of MS-Windows, Internet Explorer, and Silverlight then test your site you'll have a better idea if this is a WINE, browser or pipelight issue.

Hi bamunds,
i removed any older versions of WINE, that i had and installed that package. I reinstalled also pipelight. I reenabled Silverlight in Firefox and accepted the EULA. The site still states, that i am ready to run HBOGO, but upon a try i still get the error: Code:
err:ntdll:NtQueryInformationToken Unhandled Token Information class 29! I assume, that my problem is Code:
err:ntdll:NtQueryInformationToken Unhandled Token Information class 29! By the way the link to fds-team.de already redirects to wine-staging |
