Thanks for the suggestion, SIM-IM seems to be a nice app. I just might drop Psi for it :)

Anyway, I suggest you have a good look at SIM-IM which is a nice replacement for Gaim/Pidgin. It is multi-protocol (yahoo, jabber, msn, icq/aim, livejournal), does not use GTK but Qt for it's GUI and supports GPG encrypted communication.
I built a package for Slackware 11.0 which I put here: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/sim-im/ I used it for a while and was pretty pleased with it's looks and functionality.

Wow it really doesn't get much worse than that

This simply proves that whoever wrote that original entry is very small minded, Their is lots of variation in the FOSS sector and if you won't support it just because you don't like the particular distro, then this says more about you than it does about Slackware. :tisk:

The changelog entry announcing 12.0 RC1 says:

Quote:

xap/pidgin-2.0.1-i486-1.tgz: Upgraded to pidgin-2.0.1.
So it appears that Pidgin is back :).
