Me too, and I am shure, that most of Slackware users will share that opinion. However, new users, who are seeking for criteria how to select a distro may be discouraged by modest benchmark results. Regardless of the objective usefulness, benchmarks may influence distro decisions. And I'd rather see a growing user base for Slackware (even better: more subsribers...), than the opposite, to the benefit of the Slackware community and to the benefit of the joining new members.

Indeed, many people read phoronix, and the benchmark may influence people's decisions. A proper benchmark must be done on the exact same hardware, clean install, and real world benchmarks.

I share a bit of different opinion on this whole bench-marking thing related to Slackware.
IMHO majority of new Slackware users are those who are done with other so called user friendly distros and have some kind of sense and hands on of practical Linux usage. Now they want something which is trsansparent and simple(may not be easy).
For those people, these benchmarks don't hold a candle, they'll keep using Slackware because they have already done their own benchmarking and they're serious this time.

Regards.
