PDF forms in Firefox and chrome

But it opens on my Mac Book and Windows laptop
How do I get this to work on my Slackware 14 desktop

I can confirm that the document does not display in Okular (it's what I use on my Slackware 64-bit machines). Won't work in xpdf either.

Do you actually have Adobe Reader installed and working (on a 32-bit box or in MultiLib on a 64-bit box)?

If you do have a working Adobe Reader it is possible -- possible! -- that the web site is blocking non-Windows or Mac servers by looking at your browser's User Agent (and not seeing Windows or Mac in it). Naughty of them, but there you are. You can see what you're reporting to web sites with http://whatsmyuseragent.com/.

It is also possible that the document specifically looks to see if your PDF reader is Acrobat Reader and, if not, it will refuse to open the forms; if you're not using Acrobat Reader, well, that message is all you're going to see.

Anyway, you can try updating to the most current Adobe Reader (but not on a 64-bit box without MultiLib) and see what's what (or simply use your Windows or Mac and put a hex on the buggers for doing this).

i had to make my system multilib and install Adobe reader in order to fill some forms, couple of months ago... pheh...

that's what i did:

• made my system multilib, following AlienBob’s instructions
• installed xulrunner and adobe-reader from SBo
• for cosmetic reasons, I did the necessary to make adobe-reader use my GTK+ theme

Since I’ve gone this far, I wanted it to also integrate in Seamonkey. I installed mozplugger, and deleted this from my home folder:

Opened a PDF from PubMed and it just worked! tHe above was done on Slackware64 13.37. Hope same instructions work for 14.0 :)

PS: occasionally after closing, acroread would not exit and cause 100% load of all CPU cores… the only solution I found was to kill the process with:

Ok guys can confirm that after installing multi lib plus adobe reader it works

Now part of me hate this , adobe reader seems very buggy

Oh well what we have to do to not use that other OS from the dark-side

I find it pretty handy to keep a virtualbox running windows 7 around for this kinda thing. I need it for work but it comes in handy when nothing on the Linux side seems to handle crap like this..
