Patching kernel for 2200gb support

I've downloaded the source for Kernel 2.6.13.4.

I'm currently running what come out of the Slack 10.0 box. I'm trying to patch the 2.6.13.4 kernel with the latest rc patch available so I can have support for my wireless intel 2200gb card. When I run patch -p0 < patch it asks me for a file to patch. Isn't it suppose to do it automatically or am I missing something? I just came back to linux after about 6 years of learning on 3.4. Thanks for the help..

Sounds like you have the wrong -p option. Try -p1

If that doesn't work, try copying the patch to inside the directory and running the patch command from there.

Don't feel bad. I'm always getting confused between -p0 and -p1 as well...

The -p0 option denotes a directory structure that's built into the patch file. If you are getting errors, it usually means that you're patching out of the wrong directory. Try moving your patch file into a lower subdir and try again.
