password for ftp site? (real easy question)


I am trying to download slack 3.3 files from the ftp servers and slack's site...but sometimes it asks me for a password and username...why and how do I get one??

on place it asks is when i go to the /slackware/k1

Why would you want Slack 3.3? I guess for nostalgia or archive reasons, but it is definitely legacy and should be left behind. As for your question, try username=anonymous and password=usually email but could be anything.

that worked...althought I guess I didn't know how to spell anonymous :-P....and I need it for a 486 laptop w/ only 4 MB RAM. And I am just curious to see a really old linux distro.
