partition mounted twice (livecd)
 

Hi, I recently installed the backtrack(based on slack) live cd to my HD and i've noticed that the partition with linux on is showed two times in Konqueror.

My guess is that being a livecd backtrack has some script checking what partitions to mount on startup. The problem is that my root partition is already mounted.

Changing the fstab entry doesn't matter because it just resets next time I boot.

1.Can this be fixed easily ?
2.Are their other livecd things I should manually remove ?
3.Would it be possible to upgrade this slack-based distro to slackware 11 with slapt-get or will it just screw everything up ?

Once installed on the hard-disk, the fact that it is a "Live CD" is no longer relevant. You are running Linux from the harddrive, regardless of how it got there.

I can't see how Konquerer is displaying partition information---all I get is the directory structure.

After the system is booted up, run "mount" to see what partitions are mounted, and to which directories.

I know it's not a live cd anymore, but in order to create a livecd they include all sorts of scripts to automate everything, and i think those scripts are just copied over to the hard disk, so the only thing that has changed is that the data isnt compressed anymore and on my HD.
I just don't know where to look for any startup scripts etc they might have included.

When I start konqueror and navigate to "media:" it displays my cd drive and HD's. It looks like its only in konqueror since everything is normal in /mnt. So i'll just access things from /mnt like i used to, the konqueror way just looks nicer.

I assume you are talking about going to the /media directory.

Are you saying that your working partition is mounted there AND at / ?---ie can you get to the system files by both routes?

How about running the "mount" command?
