Packet loss on wireless after 14.0 upgrade
Greetings, and first a nod to Patrick, Eric and everyone else whose efforts make Slackware such a great distro. The latest upgrade went surprisingly smoothly. The mkinit script was a nice touch.
Since the upgrade, though, I've been having issues with the wireless connection. Ping shows packet loss and long transit times. The problem varies, working well for a while then back to losses.
The wireless card is a BCM4311 802.11a/b/g (rev 01) running in G mode with the b43 driver. It's been working fine prior to this for several years.
While I'm not ruling out coincidental hardware failure, I'm skeptical of that.
I can't try booting into Windows since I only have Slack on this laptop. I'll dig through the spare parts bin to see if I can find an old wireless card to test, although that won't tell me if there's an issue with the latest kernel.
Any thoughts on what might be going on here?
Thanks.
