Package/SlackBuild for gtranslator or other tool to help localize shell scripts?

Does anyone knows of a (trusted) source to provide that?

I am comparing softwares to help localize shell scripts.

"lokalize" is part of the kdesdk package included in Slackware 14 and "poedit" is available @slackbuilds.org. I would like to try "granslator" too but am too lazy and not enough skilled to deal with Gnome dependencies, hence my question. Else I would install another distribution in a VM to try it.

In addition, I would be pleased to hear about another software with similar features usable on Slackware 14, if any. I am aware of the po mode in Emacs but would prefer tools usable by translators not wanting to (learn how-to) use emacs.

TIA

GNOME packages use autotools, so it's not too hard to catch dependencies. When in doubt, I always check configure.in or configure.ac.

This is an aproximate list of dependencies for gtranslator 2.91.5

Included in Slack 14.0:

libtool >= 2.2.6
intltool >= 0.40.0
gtk >= 3.4.2 (gtk3)
glib >= 2.32.0 (glib2)
libxml >= 2.4.12 (libxml2)

packages available from SBo
libpeas >= 1.2.0

Packages available from SBo that need an upgrade:
gtksourceview - available 2.11.2, needed >= 3.0.0

Packages not available from SBo
gdl >= 2.91.1
gda >= 4.2.3

Following dependencies are available from GSB project (btw, I would try newer versions with a small modification of provided SlackBuilds):
gdl 3.2.0
libgda 4.2.11
gtksourceview 3.2.3

The following are optional dependencies:
gdict >= 0.11.0
gtkspell >= 2.99.99
json-glib >= 0.12.0

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for your answer, bobzilla. I installed Debian 6.0.6 in a virtual machine with gtranslator and will try to figure out if it's better than lokalize in some aspects, in which case I will try to make a SlackBuild for it (or maybe a bundle with its dependencies as do AlienBob for VLC).

Other than that I had a look at your wiki, it's interesting. Maybe you could consider contributing the already written articles to the Slackware Documentation Project. You may ask that Serbian language be officially supported , see this page.

С поштовањем,

Thank you. I hope Google Translate made it at least half-understandable. Even if it regulary messes up code blocks.

We were discussing our involvement as soon as we found out about the project. The biggest problem ATM is lack of time (and hence the lack of manpower). But I will try to speed things up by reactivating the discussion.

Anyway, we are actively linking and promoting Slackware Documentation Project, even if we are not currently contributing.

Thanx for asking.
