Orinoco scanning

I have an Orinoco Classic Gold 802.11b wireless pcmcia card in my Slack 10.1 lappy running kernel 2.4.31. I see other wireless cards are able to scan for available networks, while I get an error:

bash-3.00# iwlist eth0 scan
eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Operation not supported

Is scanning possible with my card?

well, i believe so...i actually have a dell truemobile 1150, but it uses the orinoco driver. and in fact, it's not really a dell product, they just rebranded something else that i forget at the moment. so anyway, i'm not sure, but i believe so.

Any idea where to find updated drivers? All I could find from the Proxim/Orinoco site were these pcmcia drivers from Sourceforge:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...?group_id=2405

After I open this and do a make config, I get this:

** Your kernel is configured with PCMCIA driver support. Therefore,
** 'make all' will compile the PCMCIA utilities but not the drivers.
