Opera crashing

Hi,

I keep having issues with Opera locking up. After running dmesg | tail after the last crash, this is my output:

Quote:
hda-intel: Invalid position buffer, using LPIB read method instead.
opera[3273]: segfault at 1e63a88 ip 08799e20 sp bfe64da0 error 6 in opera[8048000+aa8000]
I'm not sure if this is an issue with Opera or Slackware. (Probably Opera, but just confirming ) Is there a way to further troubleshoot this?

Btw, this is a full install of SW 12.2 with the default huge-smp kernel.

Thanks,
-Joe

You should give more information, like what version you use, what action causes the lockup etc. The Opera I installed from slackbuilds.org works well.

Btw, if you know how to use gdb, it would help you a lot to figure out what causes the segfaults.

Hi Ligar,

I guess that's it. I installed from source from Opera's web-site. my version is 9.64. The lockups are random. I didn't know there was a SlackBuild for Opera.

Very good troubleshooting !

I'll try the SlackBuild.

I've had good luck with the opera slackbuild.

My version is also 9.64. The Slackbuild should merely be a repackaging of the official binary but who knows, it might be worth giving a try. When debugging, make sure that you have your extensions etc. are off so that we can make sure it's an Opera bug.

I used the SlackBuild.

Opera even seems faster! No crashes.

Thanks Ligar and Hitest!
