openoffice menu integration

I made .tgz packages from the openoffice .rpm packages and they installed fine in /opt/openoffice...

But I cannot get openoffice integrated in kde's menu. I made a .tgz from the freedesktop .rpm package but I found out the symlinks in there are referring to /etc/openoffice...

So is this just a silly bug in openoffice or am I doing something wrong?

I'm aware of some unsupported packages at linuxpackages.net and such but I want to go the official way converting the .rpms.

I, too, prefer to convert the rpm packages. When I installed it I left out the integration packages and made my own menu entries in KDE using the Menu Editor in the K->Settings menu. And I also made my own symlink /opt/openoffice -> /opt/openoffice.org2.0 and change the link when the directory name changes so I don't have to edit my menu entries.

It's kind of weird .. but I did download openoffice but what I did was, I untarred the tarball into a directory ... in there .. there is a setup script which I used to install into my slackware ... my slackware is version 10.2 .. and it integrated into my KDE automatically ... without me doing anything ....

For installing openoffice.org, I highly recommend using the SlackBuild script from www.slackbuilds.org. Download the slackbuild and the original Linux archive from www.openoffice.org, and then run the Slackbuild to create a fully integrated Slackware package to be installed with installpkg. Quick, easy and 100% hassle-free.
