OpenOffice installing

I tried to install OpenOffice 1.0.2 on Slackware 9.0. (laptop CA6300). Instalation program (./install) created proper directories for installation, but sudenly exited (with "instalation completed" message!!!) without copying anything into these directories. The same in --interactive mode. What's wrong?

i've done it with install under root and then with soffic under user.
The installation runs very quickly.
