You've probably looked here but all I can do is point you to the installation page which applies to 1.1rc2 onward, so it says, and is basically as above
Are you in an X environment when you install? One of the wierd aspects of the OO install is that it is graphical. If you pop open a terminal in your X environment and install from their, you may have better luck.
ok here's my update on the situation.
i've just downloaded rc4 and now the installation from the command "./install --prefix=/opt" works perfectly. But when i go and run "./setup" as a user i get an error message that reads "Segmentation fault"
any ideas???
P.S. thanks to everyone for all the help so far it really has gotten me farther than i was before.
Hey i was having the same trouble all i did was run command(KDE) this only will install it as user but if u go into root im sure it will work. Ok when u open the run command just type /home/user/OOoopenoffice/./setup -net or just ./setup try that it worked for me!!!!! Ihope tthis helps
thanks for all the help. it turns out that i had some fonts that were corrupted. i found the problem by runing "strace ./setup" and reviewing the output.
