I've been using Slackware since 2.3 (dear god it's been 20 years). I've tried countless other distros, and while I appreciate that they exist, I can't fathom why anyone would want to use anything else.
I remember how excited I was that I could get discount floppies from my seasonal job at Electronics Boutique, since I needed like 100 of them to install (after a few days of downloading)
It's empirically made me a better user, admin, programmer, and -in some ways- person.
So, thanks Pat and Team. Without you, I probably would have ended up in the gutter clutching a Debian CD and a bottle of whiskey. I think I'll go buy some shirts from the store.

Agreed. We should all support Slackware with our wallets in some way. Get a subscription, t-shirt, hat, mug, or some other type of swag.
My subscription helps Slackware.
Sorry, I don't maintain them. It's a university service, and I'm a happy user .
But I think the internal download speed is much better than that from external clients .
My pleasure! I've always watched your posts and deeds closely...
I'm a long time user of Slackware! Since Slackware (Update) August 7 1993, and it is 25 1.44 floppies too! Then after, I sent in for CD's when a new version was released. Now days just slackpkg and sbopkg! Use Slackware ARM for the Raspberry Pi's 1 and 2! Tell Eric to hang in there!
Good Job!
James
As a long time Slackware user, at the time of the OP there were some disgust/disappointment at the Slackware team level. I wanted to see the community respond in appreciation to the team for the work done on a great Gnu/Linux, that being Slackware. The oldest active Gnu/Linux that is reliable and very useful to it's users.
Call me a fanboy or whatever, just someone who appreciates the endeavors by a maintainer and team to provide a worry free distribution to the user base.
I believe this thread continues to show there are many other LQ members who feel the same as I do.

Well said and I fully agree, everything you said applies to me.

As a newer user to Slackware(v. 10.0) I feel the same way you do, onebuck. I am proud that our maintainer stays the course and always delivers.

Agreed with prior postings. Slackware is the best. It is currently also one of the last true Unix like Linux OS's. Hoping it will remain that way and if not, I trust that PV, Eric and team will make sure it remains the best regardless of what the future brings.
I have not yet made a subscription but plan on doing so before the year is out.
Also, urbanwks, thank your for the E.B. flashback memories. Spent many a day in there and Radio Shack, lol...
