Old yamaha opl3sa2 sound works for cd no music file's tho
Hi all,
My buddies old gateway solo w/the yamaha opl3sa2 onboard sound does play cd-audio with xmms in the XFCE desktop. There is no KDE installed.
When we loaded it, during install we did un-select "QT + KDE environment" as it only has a 2 gig drive.
We went "menu" in the install of slackware; and anything that I saw that said sound, alsa, OSS we did include.
If we try and play an audio file in xmms it just sits there. The xmms does play cd audio.
When I run alsaconfig on it I get no errors, it is isa/pnp.
I opened up "alsamixer" and made sure the volumes were cranked up.
I even made sure to "alsactl store"
I tried launching xmms from cli and got no errors there.
I verified that the modules.conf has the same settings for sound in the bios of the pc.
XMMS is set to use the OSS driver.
The laptop is up to date via the slap-get to the official slack ftp site.
Any thoughts, or should we just scrap the idea for this on-board audio?
Thanks.
