ok whats with all this ISO. md5 stuff
OK so ive been out of the loop for a year; so shoot me.
OK here is the question what is all this md5 stuff, do i need it for anything? all i want to do is DL the ISO images so i can install to a new system but the ISO list now has three entries for an ISO; Well here ill let the list do my explaining for me. slackware-9.1-install-d1.iso {slackware-9.1-install-d1.iso.asc slackware-9.1-install-d1.iso.md5} So What the heck are these for an do i need em for the install? Sorry to be so brain dead. Shrike:confused: |
the actual file is the *.iso
the md5 is a checksum file. That means that when you download both files you can run a program that the calculates the iso's checksum and compare it with the md5 file to make sure there were no errors during your download. |
Ahhhhh
Cool that works for me.
Thanks for the info Misel. |
