Until the latest update to php, claws-mail was running fine. Since updating php through slackpkg, Claws will start but as soon as a message is selected it crashes with the following message (caught in terminal)

root[/]# claws-mail
Newmail plugin loaded
Message header summaries written to /home/pat/Mail/NewLog
Segmentation fault
root[/]#

As usual, I'm lost and wandering in the darkness. All suggestions welcomed.

Make a backup of ~/.claws-mail/clawsrc and then look for this section:

[Plugins_Common]

[Plugins_GTK2]
/usr/lib/claws-mail/plugins/trayicon.so
/usr/lib/claws-mail/plugins/bogofilter.so
/usr/lib/claws-mail/plugins/rssyl.so

And then delete the line with the newmail plugin. I know that doesn't solve the problem, but at least you may be able to get to your mail.

I just upgraded my php package, and claws mail isn't crashing, but I'm not using the plugin mentioned in your post.

My version of claws is slightly outdated, however, at version 3.7.7
