odd behavior of touchpaddriver with Lenovo x100e

Hello together,

I'm running Slackware-current with AlienBob's multilib-packages.

Since yesterday the touchpad doesn't always work. The touchpad has uper and lower buttons, often only the lower buttons work. The curser in the middle of the keyboard doesn't allways work. Here a link to a picture: http://media.schottenland.de/pi/IBM-X100e-Sw.jpg
Sometimes the whole touchpad doesn't work, after rebooting it is working again.
The xf86-synaptics-driver package is installed. I have an errormessage: "Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?" when I start a terminal.

Has anyone an idea? I've this subnotebook since last year and always been running Gentoo and Slackware64 without problems, but I deleted Gentoo last week, so I can't compare with another Linux-installation.

Thanks in advance

Markus

@Didier Spaier: this is an intermittent problem, the other problems were config problems.

@Markush: 2 to 1 a hardware problem. Since you cannot swap hardware, you have to swap OS. Use a live CD (Knoppix) or a stick (Debian Live USB) to boot and test. If the touchpad shows the same behaviour it must be hardware, if it works all right then it is a config problem and I hope someone else can help you.

AFAIK Knoppix comes with the XFCE desktop and Debian can be installed with Gnome. It is fine if this is different from your current desktop as any WM related problem will be excluded as well.

Hello, thanks for the answers,

the thread in Didier Spaier's post is very interesting, but I'm experiencing similar problems with Win7 on this computer, also an errormessage about lack of a driver. So jlinkels assumption seems to be correct.

Thanks, I think the problem (at least what this forum can help) is solved.

Markus
