Didier now has a thread about installing Nouveau:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...mostly-772796/

You probably have the kernel module installed alright. Did you also install the Xorg driver? See here:

http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallNouveau

The missing module in the log is the xorg driver, I think.

yes, I came to the same conclusion. it was kind of late at that point .. . the one thing i'm working with now is how to set resolutions when they are managed by the kernel via KMS.

but i will defer my questions to that thread, thanks for the link.

Quick ?

I was following this thread in the hopes of learning
how to switch over to the Nouveau driver (I figured
I would eventually have to switch over at some point)...

But I then came across this page:
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/FeatureMatrix

And I do not see any mention of my old card:
Nvidia NV6 Vanta/Vanta LT AGP 16MB

So is the Nouveau driver just not going to be
an option for me with this card?

Or might I be able to use Nouveau driver
and configure it as if I had an NV04/NV05?

Anyone know for sure?
