Does anyone have any idea what is going on with 319.17 Nvidia drivers and never ending error message about symlink (null)(bad address) problem.
Thx

This is just a random guess but since 319.17 no longer ships with it's own libvdpau (as older versions did), perhaps you have to install that?

False: If you install via NVIDIA-*.run, a precompiled libvdpau is installed. You only need to install libvdpau if you are using the SlackBuilds.org methodology.

Nikosis,
The symlink issue might be the bug in the .run installer. I can't seem to find the reference (don't remember is its a symlink creation fail or failure to copy libGL.so-xxx.yy). Check to make sure that libGL.so.1 is symlinked properly; esp. if in a mulilib environment.
Code:
ls -l /usr/lib64 |grep libGL.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root       10 May  7 01:18 libGL.so -> libGL.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root       15 May  7 01:18 libGL.so.1 -> libGL.so.319.17
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root  1144560 May  7 01:15 libGL.so.319.17
$ ls -l /usr/lib |grep libGL.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root       10 May  7 01:18 libGL.so -> libGL.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root       22 May  7 01:18 libGL.so.1 -> libGL.so.319.17
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root   987212 May  7 01:15 libGL.so.319.17

Have you looked in /var/log/nvidia-installer.log about this ?

It's an installer bug, they released an updated version of the driver today where the release notes state

Fixed a regression that caused nvidia-installer to attempt post-processing of non-installed files.

I suffered from this bug too, and it only happened if you skipped the installation of 32-bit compatibility libraries.
