i don't mean in the section where we speicify the video ram, etc. the part above that is a sorta repition. default values which later get over-ridden perhaps.

X itself IS running on the nvidia driver. that definitely looks better than the "nv" driver.

just one thing, the logo. i can't get it to go away! in the /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA...README file, there's a section on options (app D). it saysso what's boolean? i've tried "1", "TRUE", "True", "on". what else? (NoLogo = 1 means Logo = 0, right?) :P
If it was not for all the post in this thread the answer would have been number one in Google kind of ironic, I just had to check it and thought I would share the irony.

do u mean "If it was not for all the post(s) in this thread the answer wouldn't have been number one in Google"? (coz it is no. 1 on google).

hehe. nice. thanks for sharing.

out of curiosity, i searched for "nvidia logo" (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...=Google+Search) and it's 2nd only to the nvidia site.

Old thread and should probably be allowed to die, but...you like the idea of the logo because it lets you see whether the driver is working or not? I don't think that's the case...seeing the logo when starting X only shows that it was properly loaded and displayed (since a driver could install fine as well as load fine without working satisfactory). One would suspect that lsmod and glxinfo (and, of course, thorough testing) tells just a tad more about driver functionality.

And sorry, I don't know if it's possible to change the logo. Go with 'Option "nologo" "true"' instead and get yourself a fancy splash for your WM.

I remember reading it is not possible to change the logo. If you're 1337 maybe you can do it, but Nvidia doesn't want you to.
