NVidia graphics in -current

I have a question about NVidia, Slackware-current and Compiz/KDE translucency.

On a default setup, GLXGears gives me 203 FPS (fullscreen), which is all good.

However, if I enable KDE's translucency, that number drops down to 64 FPS. With the Compiz effects enabled, it doesn't drop down as far (about 150 FPS), but still isn't as good as normal. Is this to be expected? The video card is a GeForce 5700LE.

I think I have all the important settings in my xorg.conf:
Code:
...
Section "Device"
...
    Option "RenderAccel" "true"
    Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true"
...
EndSection

Section "Screen"
...
    Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true"
    Option "DisableGLXRootClipping" "true"
...
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
    Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection
Any ideas?

glxgears is not a benchmark, however those desktop effects stress the gpu, so i think that's "normal". if you want performance tips, best search the compiz/beryl site
