NVIDIA-GLX and General NVIDIA Problems


can someone please help me out that uses a nvidia screen card - i have the nvidia gforce2 integrated gpu (onboard) graphics card with 32 MB on an Asus A7N266-VM M/B running Slackware 9.1 and my modified 2.6.5 kernel (which i need help with figuring out still, but that is another time another thread)- i installed the *.run file without a problem and configured my XF86Config accordingly - i also read thru the (looong) readme file in /usr/doc/NVidia-GLX and followed whot was said - i also checked my symlinks and as far as i figured they checked out all right ... seems like even thought all is fine my X seems to load still the NV stuff and not the NVIDIA stuff - i really would like to have my 3D and opengl to work like they should

amongs things they say that u should have GLX, NV-GLX, NVIDIA-GLX loaded - i only have the first two loaded - then when i run the program ldd glxgears i get this :

You have GLX loaded. So it is enough for NVidia stuff, but I can't see your AGP enabled, maybe you have to recompile your kernel with AGP (as module) and should now the AGP shipset in your motherboard (mine is VIA) so you compile it too (as module).

should agp be loaded for onboard graphics cards ?????
and as far as i figured NV and NVIDIA is two diffrent things on linux and the readme sais u need GLX, NV-GLX and NVIDIA-GLX

who around here will know how much the frame rate supposed to be for onboard screencards ??

i did compile agp as modules along with nvidia nforce that works with the intel810 chipset - as far as i could figure cause on stock kernel it sais intel810 and my sounds works when i have it loaded -

so i don't know - this graphics thing been a thorn in my side for a while now - thought a kernel update might change things - but clearly didn't

you must have GLX loaded. agpgart is in lsmod list, so AGP support is enabled.
i don't know, i've configured two NVIDIAs - Riva TNT2 Ultra and then GeForce4 MX440 and both works and
the only thing i made is 'sh NVIDIA(blah,blah).run' and compiling kernel module and then editing XF86Config
driver nvidia, load glx, ahh. very important thing- you must NOT load DRI module. i can see in your XFree log file,
that DRI is loaded. it shouldn't! remove line LOAD "dri" from your XF86Config file! (btw. thit is written in that loong
NVIDIA README file) :-)

thanx - do u think it might be my kernel draging things down ??? i mean since i redid the kernel everytime i use something in x my system looks like it is hickuping - i got everything to work perfectly except this whole graphics thing - maybe i should redo the kernel - i just don't know cause all the things in the kernel is whot my pc has - maybe some things supposed to be modules instead of built into the kernel - i don't know - hehehe

thanx bout the dri thing - i do know dri not supposd to be there but i figured it isn't hurting anything so it won't kill to have it there -

do u think i can maybe figure out whot my proper fps can be ??? maybe install winblows and get a tool to see the proper fps i get in there ????????????

i'll keep on trying till i figure something out - i will beat this -
