i'm thinking that i will just end up, re-installing, as it turns out there are some other things i really need to do with my system configs... is there a way to install the 2.6 kernel INSTEAD of the 2.4 off the cd? even just install everything off ftp..
before you reinstall, i would try a different version of the nvidia driver. there have been some problems with 2.6.x kernels and the newest drivers iirc.
I have tried installing nvidia and it (installation) worked. I first upgradpkg'ed the kernel source (instead of just installing it), and then installed nvidia. But I had a problem with nvidia (root display didn't refreshed) and eventually changed to "nv" happily.
