ntfs partition mounting as rw

I want to mount my ntfs partition as rw (read AND write), and the 9.1 Slackware can't do that yet. What can I do? Is there an additional software that can do such thing?

You would need a program like "CaptiveNTFS" to write to an NTFS volume. The Linux kernel is still incapable of writing safely to NTFS.

RIght now the kernel doesn't support much in the way of write support.
You can change the characters, but the file length must remain the same -- meaning the size of it can't change. You also can't create, delete, or rename the files.

There are a couple 3rd party apps which can give you real read/write support, but some are commercial. Do a search on this.

The Knoppix 3.4 Live CD comes with a program called Captive-NTFS. This can write to NTFS partitions in Linux; it uses certain NTFS files from Windows to do this by either scanning your Windows partition and/or downloading them from the SP1 package.

**Disclaimer** This is not a fully supported function of Linux and it does have bugs. My Master Boot Record fizzled on me, so I used this to copy files from the bad drive to the good drive (both NTFS) - the small files made it, but a larger (40+ MB) .exe file corrupted.

I'm a a super- :newbie: when it comes to Linux, but I wouldn't recommend this unless it's absolutely necessary.

Hahaha

Aici ne intalnim mah Victor, poti folosi urmatoarele:
captive-ntfs
driver-ul de ntfs inclus in in kernel 2.6.whateva (adica tre sa faci upgrade ca Slack 10.1 inca foloseste 2.4
sau Paradigm NTFS care insa nu e freeware da il gasesti pe un site pe care nu ti-l pot spune aici ca nu am voie :).

Mai vorbim.
