Now X is dead.

I used Slackpkg to update my version of Slackware(64, v13.1) and it installed a new xorg server. Now I can't start X at all.

I tried running xorgsetup, but it dies out with an error log a mile long.

Has anyone else updated XORG and have it die on you? Is there a quick fix or am I in for another long week...

If you use nvidia or ati drivers you will need to reinstall your video drivers.

The first thing I do is change to the "vesa" driver then I have all the time in the world to find a remedy...

nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf change the driver to "vesa" in the device section.
