Notification Area Crash

Gnome 2.2/Slackware 9.0

I've been receiving the following notification for sometime now when I log out:

Application "notification-area-applet" (process 807) has crashed
due to a fatal error.
(Segmentation fault)

I recently used swaret tp upgraded gnome from the current branch but still no luck. After serveral days trying different queires on google and looking through numerous bug reports, I've nearly reached my breaking point. I found that freebsd had the same problem and a patch was merged into their ports tree. Anyone else having the same problem or aware of a fix for linux?

I get the same stuff every time I log out of Gnome, too. Once, I didn't hit the button when it tells you it crashed. I was unable to get back into X under that user account. This is something that's been going on for the entire time gnome 2 has been out, at least on Slackware. I wish I had your answers, but I don't. I want 'em too.
