Not the usually n00b questions, READ --->

alright guys/gals, this is not a frequently asked question, or if it is then i have not looked anywhere where there is some info...

some computers that i have seen, mainly compaq, have the compaq splash screen at startup, i was just curious if that can be changed to any graphic that i would like to make it, but see the other problem is that my new computer is not pre assembled, so could I put a splash startup screen on the board that i have, its a soyo KT400 dragon ultra platnium, ande has a 4 mb flash chip?? i know my writing may all seem a little disorganized, and erratic, it was a long night......but if anyone has any info on this, or knows how to do this, please let me know, this is just a curiosity of mine right now, so i understand that noone may respond to this.......

the second question is a little more on topic, i was wondering if anyone knows which kernel supports the new VIA northbridge and southbridge chipset (otherwise known as the VIA KT400)??? i am running 2.4.20 and it doesnt appear that it is being recognized...any help is appreciated

please don't put things like "READ --->" in a title, it's so tacky...

some mobo's allow you to change their startup screen, my systems based on the FIC AE31 mobo have a windows app which will udate the bios chip with any image you want, but if the board doesn't come with the software, it's probably not possible.

there have been a few threads about KT400's here, it is apparently supported on 2.4.20 but naturally i only find people saying it doesn't. no news is good news etc...

thanks for the info, and about the READ---->, it gets peoples attention whether or not its tacky is a matter of opinion...

i t won't get anyone's attention here, just like "urgent". not a good way to make friends, kid.

I'd have to agree with acid, I was going to skip over it until it was pointed out. Comes off to me as a demand, and in no way describes your actual thread as well.

Just a thought.
