Non-root user cannot format floppy.

Hello:

Non-root user cannot format a floppy using gfloppy in Gnome 2.4 in Slackware 9.1. Whenever I try this, I get a message that the user does not have permissions to format the floppy.

What is the solution?

Thanks for your help.

Look at your /etc/fstab, edit your entry for your floppy. Rather than owner put user

You have problems with file permissions on /dev/fd0.
Add the user to the floppy group and relogin.
That should do it. If you still have troubles I need to know the output from
ls -l /dev/fd0;
cat /etc/group;
Let me know how it goes.

I added the non-root user to floppy group as mentioned above. Now the non-root user is able to format the floppy.

Thanks for your help.
