no X on Acer Aspire One

Have got 14 installed with no issues. When I do 'startx' it carshes saying 'Fatal server error: no screens found'. lspci shows that the vga is an SCH Poulsbo graphics controller rev.7.
Has any one managed to get this to work? I did two fresh installs just to make sure and am getting the same issue. Happens whether in root or user space.

I have the Acer Aspire One. Although I don't have Slackware 14 installed on it, I've had 13.37, and everything worked fine except wifi.

I don't even have Slack CDs or images, but I guess I could download them and install them if you can't get any better help.

Meanwhile, 'lspci' on Ubuntu gives me a different graphics card:

Code:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Yes, I have Slackware 14.0 running on my Acer aspire One.

At the root shell prompt enter this command:

# rmmod poulsbo psb_gfx

Then exit and run startx as your regular user. I made an entry about this in SlackDocs. :)

Thanks hitest - that did the trick.

You are welcome. I am glad I could help. I struggled with the same issue for over a month. :)

I am pleased to note that Slackware-current with the 3.8.4 kernel now works on the Acer Aspire One without issues, that is, no extra commands are needed prior to using the startx command. Many thanks to Mr. Volkerding and the entire Slackware team. :)
