No video with i810 driver

Hello everyone,
I have an rather clean installation of slackware 12.1 on my AcerTM 291Lci, which has an Intel 855GM chipset. I can use the vesa driver but not the "i810" or "intel" ones (which I used with past distributions).
X starts, I can hear the sound system as kde opens but there's no video.

In my xorg.conf I have:
Code:
Section "Device"
	Identifier	"Generic Video Card"
	BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
# Driver "intel"
        Driver "i810"
	VideoRam 65536
EndSection
and this is the log I get (I cut parts which I think are not necessary to stay in the 25000 chars limit):
Code:
X.Org X Server 1.4.0.90

So did you try what is described in this thread:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...in-x11-402003/
You didn't post enough of xorg.conf for me to know.

Installing xf86-video-i810-1.7.4-i486-1.tgz as said in that thread did it, thank you very much for the quick help!
The rest of xorg.conf was as described there, and apparently it was ok.

You're telling me!

I just installed 12.2 (Been VERY busy working, no time for the important stuff...lol), and working on getting it up to speed. I'll see if anything needs updating soon.
