No sound on 10.2

I have not been able to get any sound to work after a 10.2 install. I went through alsaconf, alsamixer and alsactl store with no problems, but no sound.

I am a noob so it could be something simple? What is a good way to test sound? I don't have any sound files that i know of. I have tried video on Google Video and got no sound.

Code:
root@slacker:/home/paul# lsmod

Did you unmute the sound in alsamixer? Alsa is used by Slackware, and by default has all the channels muted.

Regards,

Try this (assuming you installed KDE) - and try it before you start X:
Code:
play /opt/kde/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav
You should hear something if your sound settings are allright. If this works and sounds are absent in X, it is your Desktop Environment that plays tricks on you.
