No Sound from Motherboard Inputs?

I am using a motherboard with onboard ES1371 sound. It has inputs for CD-In, Line-In and a modem type in.

I am using an old BT848 TV tuner card and I get video but I don't get sound. I tried plugging the cable from the Audio out on the BT848 card into both the CD-In and the Line-In jack and I get nothing out of either.

I do get normal sounds (running KDE, can hear .wavs and .au and beeps and such), but I can't seem to get this to work.

I really don't need the CD's sound, but I really do need the TV sound.

Any suggestions? What information do I need to add to help ya'll out?

Thanks in advance

don't know if this will help, but according to
http://www.freeos.com/articles/3007/
you might want to try 'modprobe tvaudio'

tvaudio

Thanks for the reply.

tvaudio is listed in my lsmod

Code:
Module Size Used by Not tainted
tvaudio ### 0 (autoclean) (unused)
it also shoes up in the i2c-core listing

Code:
Module Size Used by Not tainted
i2c-core ### 0 (tvaudio bttv tuner i2c-algo-bit)
What should I do?

I've got a rather old PCI card that I'm trying to get running under
debian/kernel 2.6.7. It's a bt848A KPF chip, with a Philips fl1246 tuner
chip with a TDA9800T chip, which I believe is the audio system.

I have no problems getting a picture, but sound is non existent either via
the line-out on the back thru speakers or via the internal connector. I've
tried various setting of card=n in the module options. all to no avail.

I've googled on the card and looked thru the archive, the nearest match I
can find is it *may* be a Gallant/Minton IV-550 (it was built into a Tiny
built machine, this seems to be the closest match). Its pci ID is 109e:0350

Thanks for the help everyone. I made the card work in the end by setting
the following in modprobe.conf

#bttv
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
options bttv card=37 tuner=1 pll=2
