I have installed the HP drivers for this printer, tried hp-setup, failed. Tried setting up with CUPS, and it sets up the printer fine, but when I try to print anything, I get this error: /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed
I can't seem to get around it. Has anyone else had this issue?

What did you install?
I assume the latest HPLIP package.
What is the response from the hp-setup command?
Have you restarted cups since installing?
Have you tried the hp-makeuri command?
Latest HPLIP, Yes, restarted CUPS as per the instructions. When I run hp-setup, it locates the printer, then when I click next it says this:
An appropriate PPD file could not be found. Please check your HPLIP install or Select PPD file manually. I find where it is on my system, and select it.
Then I click next after entering the description of the printer, and I get this error:
Printer queue setup failed, please restart CUPS and try again.
I stop and restart CUPS, try again, same thing happens.
well guys, thanks for all the help. If I wasn't such a moron I would have realized that ghostscript was not installed on my system. Installed the package and printer works great now.

Glad to see you have it going. If you used the rpm then I would have thought the ghostscript would have been a required dependency but who knows. haven't bothered looking at the rpm. As for the source again odd but may guessing one checks the requirements page that it will not do the checks itself.
