no nfsd process
ok, I think I know why I'm having trouble with NFS-there is no nfsd process on my Slack box.
nfs-utils-1.06-i486 is installed and rpc.portmap is running. I use exportfs as root and execute the following with no errors: /etc/rc.d/rc.portmap start /etc/rc.d/rc.nfsd start My Fedora box shows both a portmap and nfsd processes. Slack only shows a portmap process. What's wrong? |
nfsd has to run on the server ( the one where the filesys. phisically is on disk )
if you have no shares in the exports file, nfsd won't be started. ( you don't need it then eh... ) egag |
Should Slack have a port open for NFS? Mine does not. Port 2049 is open on my Fedora box for NFS. I used nmap on each pc to find out the available ports.
Oh, my Fedora box is the server and has the nfsd process going-so that should be ok then. |
i still have to learn how to write iptables-rules.
i use guarddog, and just allowed nfs on the lan. you can check ports yourself. start " iptraf " in a console ( as root; monitoring your lan-nic ), and switch off the firewall. then mount the nfs and you'll see wich ports are used. egag |
