No internet in Virtual Box after vdi transplant

I had VBox OSE running in ubuntu.
Then I switched to archlinux, and took my slackware .vdi file with me, and installed the official VBox, and created a VM with that .vdi.
Now I have no internet. The same thing happened to the gentoo install.

Is there anything I can do? VBox settings appear the same as before, and netcfg did nothing.

Do I have to reinstall in the VM?

What's the output of ifconfig (run as root)?
Try running

ifconfig eth0 up

Maybe re-installing the guest additions helps, too.

Is vboxnet running? Occasionally this happens to me after upgrading VBox. In /etc/rc.d (on the host) there should be rc.vboxdrv and rc.vboxnet. Make sure vboxnet is running by executing as root:

Also, in the vm settings, is the emulated network adapter the same as in your previous install? I think in the latest version there are more options for the emulated nic.

ifconfig gets
eth0: ERROR while getting interface flags: no such device

loading rc.vboxnet does nothing either.

NOTE: OSs installed in VBox after I switched to archlinux work fine.
