No HDMI Sound
Hi,
I have slackware 13.37 updated to the current. If I run mplayer -ao alsa:device=hdmi The sound works perfectly, but it doesn't in kde. I use mplayer as phonon backend, others backends doesn't work for me at all, and I didn't try to fix it. In Phonon System Settings Test also doesn't work with hdmi device, the sound goes through notebook speakers. Thanks |
Check your video card manufacturer (AMD, Intel, or Nvidia) website for their Linux driver section and FAQ as they should have proper documentation on it's setup and configuration.
Nvidia has a good tutorial on setting up HDMI audio on their website which should reflect wellon any other non-Nvidia HDMI setup as well. Found the link for you: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/gp...dmi-audio.html You may need to create/edit your /etc/modules.conf file to add the HDMI device to the listing with it's ALSA driver, as such (example only): Quote:
vi ~/.asoundrc And paste this into the file and save it: Quote:

You may need to tell phonon that the hdmi output is the preferred output, you set it is the same area where you set the backend to use, just on a different tab.
