Did you run "alsaconf" yet?

Run it as root

*nevermind, I see from your link that you did run alsaconf

What is the output of cat /etc/asound.conf ?

This is the system wide configuration file which should let you select a default sound card. I'm assuming you want the Analog audio to be default, so you should edit it to have something like this

Code:

gerardo@slackbox:~$ cat /etc/asound.conf
defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.pcm.device 0

The card and device numbers are taken from aplay -l

Firstly, open alsamixer
Code:

$ alsamixer
and make sure you un-mute all channels (use left and right arrows to navigate, then the letter "M" on any channel that is muted). You can also switch cards with "F6".
Then, try entering
Code:

$ aplay -D plughw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
and then
Code:

$ aplay -D plughw:0,1 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
and see if you get any sound.
