no /apt
Running Slack 14.1. When downloading various apps am given directions on how to install, and all specify using /apt and apt-get in the process.
Problem is that when try to do so keep getting response of: no such file or directory for /etc/apt [even when cd to /etc] and command-not-found for apt-get. What's the problem? |
Apt and apt-get are package management tools for the Debian project. Slackware has its own means and tools for package management, namely "pkgtools".
For apps that are not included in the original Slackware installation, it is best to check out slackbuilds.org and if it is available there, follow those installation instructions. If you can't find it at slackbuilds.org, perhaps post a message on this forum asking for assistance. |

sbotools is winning me over from sbopkg, but that should still cover you. |
