no accentuated chars ssh+screen+irssi

Hi,

I use Slackware 13.1 32 bits in my eeepc and I have only Xfce installed on in it (didn't install KDE).
So I use Xfce on it. On my other machines when I'm using irssi on konsole I don't have any problems with latin chars (accentuated) but when I'm using Terminal on Xfce i have it.
Where is the problem? In irssi or in terminal?
How can I put it right? I use Portuguese layout keyboard.

EDIT: I already see that is in irssi at terminal on Xfce. But I have "/set term_charset UTF-8". Don't understand what could be wrong!

What is your locale?
Where have you set the Xfce interface to Portuguese?

I think that maybe it could be about xterm settings. I don't have any ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources

I think it has something to do with GTK and its input method, have you tried with a non-GTK terminal emulator like xterm or rxvt?

If it's indeed the GTK input method, you might want to try and use SCIM (see the ZenWalk wiki: http://wiki.zenwalk.org/index.php?ti...nput_with_SCIM).

In KDE using konsole is solved. I didn't see the chars of some users because they are using other charset then UTF-8. I used recode in irssi like this:

Code:
/set recode ON

/set recode_out_default_charset ISO_8859-1

/set recode_fallback utf-8

/set recode_autodetect_utf8 ON

/recode add #channel_name ISO_8859-15
Now I have to deal with the problem in Xfce. I will try the suggestions above.

In Xfce with xterm using irssi everthing works fine. But not with terminal and not with rxvt too.
