Question NF7-S SATA and Slackware 10

Hi, im a new user on here

Ive had Mandrake 10 on my pc for awhile, but ive decided to start using Slackware 10, so i can learn about the OS and command line better. The CDs are still in the post.

I was wondering if i will have any potential problems due to the fact i only have one HD. A big SATA drive. Its on the Sil1332 Controler on my NF7-S. Will installation of Slackware 10 be fairly straightforward on this drive?

You should be able to install without any hassel. Slack will pick up your SATA as an ATA but once installed just compile the kernel with SATA support to get better proformance. You will have to change your lilo.conf and fstab (hda will become sda with SATA support) since linux will recognize your drive as a scsi after recompiling.

Thanks for the reply

Mandrake seemed to pick up my NF7-S nicely

But hope these pieces dont prove to troublesome in Slackware..

Teratec Aureon Sky PCI Sound Card .. I want to get this working in a decent capacity, even if it takes a lot of effort

Radeon 9800 Pro ... not sure i can be bothered to get 3d acceleration working, ive heard the ATi drivers are poor

Belkin 802.11g Wireless PCI card ... would be nice to get it working.. think i'll need the NDIS wrapper?
