Question Newbie+Slackware 9.1=...?

Hello!
I've recently switched from RedHat 6.2, to Slackware 9.1. I fell in love at first site, but I have found bugs.
I've been trying to install instant-messengers (kmerlin, kmess...) and the 'make' keeps going into infinite loops.
Then, while running ./configure to install FireStarter, I got an error and it said my C++ compiler can't create exe's.
Any help?

Okay, I'll bite since no one else will ........ why would the gnu compiler say it can't create exe's when linux does not run exe's. Are you trying to use source packages for windows builds ....

Quick suggestions:
1) Install ALL of the defaults selected in the D package
2) Install ALL of the libraries in the L package.
3) Install the TCL packages.
You may still be missing GTK, QT and others so, I install Gnome (even though I don't use it) and KDE.

..from there, make sure you follow the READMEs, INSTALLs and FAQs of the programs you downloaded.

Otherwise, you have to post more of the error information for more help.
