new winfast tv2000 expert

Hello everyone,

I just upgraded from a TV Wonder to a Leadtek TV2000 Expert tv card. The problem is that on bootup the bttv messages are no longer displayed by the kernel. All I did was switch out the cards. Any idea why it isnt recognised? I havnt dont that much searching on the issue yet but I figured i'd ask to see if someone had a quick answer.

Thanks.

uh oh. I just did 'modprobe bttv' then looked at dmesg and here is what I get:

Linux video capture interface: v1.00
i2c-core.o: i2c core module
i2c-algo-bit.o: i2c bit algorithm module
bttv: driver version 0.7.107 loaded
bttv: using 4 buffers with 2080k (8320k total) for capture
bttv: Host bridge is PCI device 10de:01e0 (nVidia Corporation)
bttv doesn't support your Conexant 2388x card.

I know the tv2000 deluxe works and I read that the tv2000 expert does as well.

Ok, now I'm running Linux 2.6.4 and when I run tvtime I get the following:
videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument
videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument
mixer: Can't open device /dev/mixer, mixer volume and mute unavailable.
videoinput: Can't mute card. Post a bug report with your
videoinput: driver info to http://tvtime.net/
videoinput: Include this error: 'Invalid argument'

It also gives me four different composite settings and zero tuner settings when you try to select the source.

let me know if you get this sorted

i have the wintv go card
bought because of the rave reviews of it's support under linux
but
the chipset has ben changed to the cx88 chipset
and I CANNOT get it to work with linux

reports said that the 2.6 kernel would support it but apprently not

i always end up with unresolved symbol or unknown symbol errors when trying to recompile the kernel or do modprobe cx8800

WinFast TV2000 XP Expert Locks up system On Mandrake 10

Hi All,

I've just upgraded to Mandrake 10 (Would have preferred SUSE 9.1 by choice) but didn't won’t to wait.

Everything seems to be working ok, except for my TV card. The card was detected during install and post setup, however I still need to modprobe cx8800 and the tuner (can't remember what module).

If I run any Viewer Software, I get about a second of video before my pc locks up and all I can do is switch it off at the mains.

Has anyone else come across this problem as I would like to get freevo up and running so I can ditch XP?

Cheers
Andy

I have also recently tried it with mandrake 10 official and suse 9.1 pro and neither can do anything with it

I have just got a copy of fedora core 2 and am about to try it with that...

I'll post back with results.

I have got it working! Here is what I did based on something I read online (which I cant seem to find anymore):

I downloaded: http://dl.bytesex.org/releases/video...8-0.0.4.tar.gz

Edit the file tda9887.c line 373 to read the following:

372: static unsigned int port2 = 1;
373: static unsigned int qss = 1; // Used to be 0
374: static unsigned int adjust = 0x10;

I built it with the make command. Then I moved all of the *.ko module files into
/lib/modules/2.6.6/kernel/drivers/media/video
Except the two cx88 modules which go in
/lib/modules/2.6.6/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx88
After a reboot, I now have auido in tvtime.

I am not sure if this will help anyone with other cards or not but it definitly works with my tv2000 Expert.
